CI-AUF, jointly organized by Fujian Normal University in China and Angeles University Foundation in the Philippines, was established in January 2010, and the opening ceremony was attended by the then President of the Philippines, Ms. Arroyo, the then Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, Mr. Liu Jianchao, and the then Director General of Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters), Ms. Xu Lin. CI-AUF is the only Confucius Institute in the Philippines that has been awarded three times the title of "Global Advanced Confucius Institute", "Outstanding Overseas Examination Center" and "Outstanding Contribution to Chinese Language Testing". It is the official partner of the SPFL-Chinese Mandarin of the Philippine Department of Education and has been awarded the license of "lead Institution for the Training of Local Chinese Teachers". At present, it is also the only Confucius Institute that is fully responsible for the construction of the Chinese curriculum system, training of local Chinese teachers, development of Chinese syllabus, development of Chinese teaching materials and quality assessment of Chinese teaching in public secondary schools of the Philippine Department of Education. "It has gradually become an important bridge for "people-to-people" relations between China and the Philippines.

Distinctive and Key Programs

      Government and Corporate Chinese Training Programs
      Since its inception, the Confucius Institute of Angeles University Foundation has been committed to cooperation and exchanges with relevant government departments and enterprises. It has become a signed partner of the Philippine presidential palace, the House of Representatives, the Ministry of foreign affairs, the Ministry of education, the Immigration Bureau, customs, the National Library, and other government departments, providing its officials with applied Chinese courses and lectures on Chinese cultural knowledge. In February 2017, the Confucius Institute of Angeles University Foundation officially began to teach classes at the malakanan palace of the presidential palace of the Philippines, teaching Chinese courses to 127 staff of the Information Department of the presidential palace and its subordinate institutions (the Philippine Information Bureau, the National Bureau of publishing, the National Bureau of printing, etc.). The course adopts the mode of four hours per week, two sessions of 80 hours in total, to teach Chinese teaching, Chinese culture journey, contemporary China and other related knowledge. In July of the same year, Hongxi Lishi University signed a Chinese course agreement with the Philippine presidential guard to provide Chinese courses for 50 Guard officers and soldiers of the Philippine presidential palace.
        Training of Local Chinese Teachers under the Special Program in Foreign Language-Mandarin
        Philippine public middle school teachers refer to the local teachers who directly teach Chinese in the Chinese teaching project of public middle schools in cooperation between the Confucius Institute of Angeles university foundation and the Philippine Ministry of education. In the 2011-2012 academic year, Chinese was included in the special language program of the Philippine Ministry of education. After various twists and turns, it officially entered the classroom of Philippine public middle schools. To train local foreign language teachers, the Philippine Ministry of education cooperates with the state Hanban of China, the Embassy of the people's Republic of China in the Philippines, and the Confucius Institute of Angeles university foundation to carry out Chinese language projects. The Confucius Institute's teacher training program for local teachers in public middle schools in the Philippines will further strengthen the professional skills of local Chinese teachers in the Philippines through the mode of centralized training in batches in summer, weekend follow-up training, and immersive training in China, to achieve the purpose of training Chinese teaching talents suitable for the national conditions of the Philippines.
          Master of Arts in Education major in Chinese Language Teaching(MAEd CLT)
          In 2019, the Philippine Ministry of education, the headquarters language of the former Confucius Institute, signed an agreement to jointly train local Chinese teachers for the master of Chinese teacher education major based at Angeles university foundation in the Philippines and Fujian Normal University, to further deepen and promote the sustainable development of the K-12 education system particular Chinese program and solve the core problem in the development of Chinese special programs, that is, the professionalization of local Chinese teachers.
            Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Chinese language teaching
            Chinese normal students refer to the training of local teachers for Philippine teaching institutions through the joint training of Chinese and foreign universities. After formal school education and practice, these Chinese normal students have a solid Chinese foundation and excellent Chinese teaching ability. They have obtained the Philippine teacher qualification certificate within one year after graduation, and have been engaged in Chinese teaching for at least five years. They are the new forces of Chinese teaching in the Philippines.
